Super Bowl Party with Annie Campbell

We're so excited to share our friend Annie Campbell's top tips and tricks for hosting a festive Super Bowl soiree. Annie is a caterer and event planner extraordinaire and we always love how she styles her HTH linens. Read on for some good party pointers!

HTH: What are your top tips for hosting a Super Bowl party?

AC: I always recommend a buffet for a viewing party in order to make it easy to grab food throughout the entire game. Stick to the classics. Everyone always looks forward to the classic dishes for the Super Bowl, so give the people what they want: chips & dip, chili, wings, pigs in a blanket, etc.

Course it out. Make the first half of the game  lighter snacks and appetizers. Then bring out the heartier food at the beginning of half time. Lastly, make sure you have enough comfortable seating for everyone. If that means grabbing furniture from other rooms of your home, do it!  Floor cushions and poufs are great additions for a larger crowd. You want everyone to feel welcome.

HTH: What are your favorite dishes to serve for the big game?

AC: For sips, a Bloody Mary bar is always a hit.  Make sure to have all the fixings; celery, olives, peppers, cheese picklers, lime & lemons. You can never go wrong with regular and spicy margaritas. I always make sure to have beer and flavored sparkling waters on hand, as well.

For food, I like to pace it out by quarters! For the first quarter, start off the game with potato chips & onion dip, chips & guacamole, and pigs & a blanket.

In the second quarter, one of the simplest things to do is a chili bar with great toppings like corn chips, grated cheddar, sour cream, scallions, hot sauce, & herbs.  It’s always nice to have lighter options to go with your main courses like a slaw or salad. The third quarter is time for seconds!

In the fourth quarter, stick to bite size desserts like cookies or brownies.  When guests ask what they can bring, desserts are an easy thing to assign.

HTH: How do you like to decorate and style your linens when hosting?

AC: We were inspired by the HTH Nutmeg collection. We used Soho Nutmeg as the tablecloth and added Gingham Nutmeg Napkins and Mayfair Plaid Tea Towels to give the buffet dimension. I like to use napkins or tea towels to style the buffet by lining chip bowls and dessert platters. We added color by using a simple faux grass runner. You could also add terracotta potted herbs or touches of your favorite team; pennant flags, paper cocktail napkins, etc.

HTH: Tell us more about your amazing meal delivery and catering services!

AC: For the Super Bowl, we have a fun menu with all the classics: cocktails, snacks, entrees, salads, and desserts. You can order the whole spread for your family or large group, or you can supplement with dishes you are already making. For example, if the thought of making wings sounds intimidating, you can order our Buffalo Wings with Celery & Blue Cheese Dip. Everything that needs to be reheated comes in an oven-ready container for total ease.  Everything is available for delivery or pick-up at our kitchen in Los Angeles. The deadline for Super Bowl orders is Monday, February 7th at 4 pm PST.
